Vingroup kicks off construction of $220 million university in Hanoi
VinUni, a non-profit private Vietnamese university invested by Vingroup will be an attraction for investors and buyers of the VinCity Ocean Park Gia Lam project.
In the morning of November 14, 2018, Vingroup officially starts the construction of VinUni on an area of 23 hectares. It is located in the VinCity Ocean Park Gia Lam, which is also under construction in Gia Lam district, the east of Hanoi.
The university is expected to start its first term in 2020 and will be a non-profit private university of international standards with majors in three key areas: Business, Technology and Health Sciences.
Le Mai Lan, Vice President of Vingroup said that the investment capital for phase 1, up to 2030 is estimated at VND5,000 billion (US$220 million).
Along with the public facilities of the project such as the 6.1-hectare salty water lake, an outdoor sports park with 700 sets of excercise machines, international education system VinUni is also the highlight to investors and buyers.
VinCity Ocean Park has a total area of 420 hectares, just two kilometres away from the Vietnam National University of Agriculture and 15-20 minutes by car from the city centre. Opposite to the project is Vinpearl Land amusement park, lying on an area of more than 80 hectares with the total investment of $1.5 billion and a public park of 210 hectares.
The VinUni project consists of the main building, a student dormitory, a sports hall, sport stands as well as a technical and ancillary area. The main building has 10 levels with a 108-metre tower. All lecture halls and classrooms are designed with flexibility and high interaction. They adopt the latest technology for the advanced teaching techniques at VinUni.
The dormitory has a total floor area of approximately 10,600 square metres with a canteen, a health room, a self-study area, convenience stores and recreation space.
Sports complexes include a sports hall, a stadium area and outdoor sports facilities, which are also designed to make a difference. The sports hall is approximately 4,400 square metres including an indoor swimming pool, a football field and multi-purpose gym rooms.
Especially, the campus of VinUni has very low construction density. This design facilitates special and green learning spaces for students.
VinUni is a non-profit private university of Vietnam. Accordingly, VinUni pledges to devote all of its profits to reinvestment activities to continuously upgrade and develop the system.
A VinUni representative reveals that the fees would reflect the training quality of international standards, balanced in accordance with the demands and capacity of the Vietnamese.
VinUni’s policy is to cooperate strategically with elite universities in the top 20 universities in the world, focusing on the Ivy League which is the group of the most outstanding private universities of the United States such as the Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania.
