Long An to receive US and Canada-invested hi-tech food processing plant

MHEnviron Group, in collaboration with Avure Technologies and Minh Hung Group, will develop a food manufacturing and processing plant in Ben Luc district of the Mekong Delta province of Long An.
The three parties have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the construction of the plant using HPP (high pressure processing) technology. Covering an area of 15 hectares, the plant is slated to be inaugurated in September 2019 with an estimated capital of VND500 billion (over $22 million).Once fully completed, the plant will produce ready-to-eat pho (noodle soup) and bun (rice vermicelli) as well as other traditional Vietnamese food products and fruit juices for export to North America, Canada, and the EU.

Under the agreement, MHEnviron Group will provide the capital, operational experience, and commercial expertise, while Avure will supply technology and equipment to Minh Hung Group to implement the project.

HPP is cold pasteurisation in pure water. It uses ultra-high pressure purified water to keep packaged food pathogen-free and stay fresh longer. At very high pressures bacteria, such as Listeria monocytogenes, E.coli, Salmonella, and Campylobacter, are inactivated.

HPP helps producers increase food safety and extend shelf life while providing consumers with nutritious, natural, and flavorful food.

Lam Dao Hung, chairman of Minh Hung Group, said that the cutting-edge technology will help produce ready-to-eat food and beverages that are tasty, clean, safe, and nutritious. Hung expressed hope that the plant will help Vietnam become one of the world’s finest kitchen in the future.

Phung Duc Tien, vice chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment, said that the Vietnamese agricultural sector has achieved impressive figures in 2017, but its export value is below its potential due to the small scale of production and lack of technologies.

He lauded the partnership between Vietnamese and foreign companies to apply high-technology in agriculture. He added that the National Assembly will create legal framework for technology and technology transfer in the coming time to facilitate domestic companies to deploy high-technology in the agricultural sector.
