Work starts on US$8 million seafood processing plant in Binh Dinh
Japanese Mai Tin food company commenced the construction of a plant, specialising in seafood processing and preserving, at the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone in Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province on October 10.
The plant, combined with a Japanese cultural tourism site, will be built on a total area of 5ha with a total investment of US$8 million.
The plant will have a capacity of processing and preserving 2,000 tonnes of seafood products per year which meet international standards for exporting to Japan, the US and Europe.
The plant in Binh Dinh is the second of its kind opened by Mai Tin in Vietnam following the first one in Cam Ranh city, Khanh Hoa province.
Mai Tin is the only company in Vietnam producing uncooked food according to Japanese technology. The project’s investors expressed their wish that through the project more Vietnamese and foreigners would know about the freshness of Vietnamese tuna while providing the Vietnamese people with an opportunity to experience the Japanese culture and its culinary arts in particular.
According to Mai Tin Director, Kosaburo Kimura, the first phase of the plant is scheduled for completion in June 2019 with its products to be shipped to the US and consumed domestically.
