HCM City proposes investment in Ben Thanh-Tan Kien metro line
No. 3A metro line – The HCM City People’s Committee has proposed the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) consider investment in building the Ben Thanh-Tan Kien No. 3A metro line and then submit the proposal to the Prime Minister for approval.
Line No. 3A is an arterial link important to the formation and construction of the city’s passenger transport network, according to the city’s management board of urban railways.
Once completed, the project would be directly linked with metro line No. 1, creating a public transport corridor connecting the northeast and southwest of the city.
According to research conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the metro line has a total length of nearly 20 km with an estimated investment of 313 billion JPY (68 trillion VND, or 2.9 million USD).
The project is expected to be built in two phases: from 2025 to 2031 and from 2028 to 2034.
